Abstract

The theory of "Returning to the Qur'an" is one of the key theories initially introduced by Sayyid Jamal al-Din AsadAbadi and subsequently discussed by various thinkers, both Shia and Sunni, throughout history. In contemporary times, this theory has been prominently highlighted as one of the most significant Qur'anic ideas by Imam Khamenei (may Allah preserve him). This study employs a descriptive-analytical methodology to elucidate the roles of the "Returning to the Qur'an" theory in reviving Islamic governance as envisioned in Imam Khamenei's thought. The findings of this study identify the following roles: the relationship of the Qur'an with the humanities, derivation of the foundations and principles of the human sciences, theorizing with the Qur'an as the central axis, employing the Qur'an for individual and societal education, fostering the creation of a united Islamic nation, and utilizing the Qur'an in the formation of Islamic civilization. Hence, it can be concluded that, based on Imam Khamenei's Qur'anic perspective, the theory of "Returning to the Qur'an" plays a crucial role in the revival of Islamic governance.
