Abstract

Human responsibility is a core aspect of identity and dignity in the Qur’anic worldview, playing a central role in individual development and societal advancement. This study examines the comprehensive Qur’anic framework of responsibility, analyzing its dimensions—individual, familial, social, and divine—through relevant Qur’anic texts. Understanding and applying responsibility in contemporary contexts supports moral growth, strengthens family cohesion, and maintains social integrity. Using an analytical-deductive approach and thematic tracking of Qur’anic verses, the study presents an integrated model of responsibility. Individual responsibility forms the foundation for psychological balance and ethical conduct. Familial responsibility ensures security and nurtures the next generation. Social responsibility encompasses care for the disadvantaged, justice, reconciliation, and the promotion of virtue, grounded in faith-based brotherhood and the duty to enjoin good and forbid evil. Divine responsibility constitutes the highest aim, guiding individuals toward worship, remembrance, and knowledge of God, while calling for avoidance of idolatry and doctrinal deviation. The findings indicate that these dimensions are interconnected: individual and familial responsibilities support social cohesion, while divine responsibility provides meaning and direction for all others. Integrating these responsibilities in awareness and practice fosters personal perfection and establishes an active, cohesive, and just Qur’anic society grounded in ethical values.
