Opposition to Arrogant Hegemony and Qur'anic Strategies for Confronting It: An Applied Study of the Revolutionary Discourse of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei

Abstract

Statement of the Problem: Confronting arrogant hegemony and opposing oppression constitute central themes of the Holy Qur'an and foundational principles of the discourse of the Iranian Islamic Revolution. These concepts occupy a prominent place in the thought and statements of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei, who regard them as essential intellectual and political foundations for building an Islamic society and safeguarding its independence. Despite the significance of this subject, there remains a need for a Qur'an-based study that elucidates its theoretical dimensions and practical approaches as manifested in the revolutionary discourse of the leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
Objective: This study seeks to elucidate the Qur'anic concept of arrogant hegemony, examine the methods prescribed by the Qur'an for confronting and resisting it, analyze the reflection of this Qur'anic vision in the revolutionary discourse of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei, and demonstrate its role in shaping the intellectual and political strategies of the Islamic Revolution.
Research Methodology: The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach through an examination of Qur'anic verses related to arrogant hegemony and its confrontation, together with an analysis of the statements and speeches of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei. It further identifies the principles and practical approaches they adopted in confronting the forces of domination and global arrogant hegemony.
Findings and Conclusion: The findings indicate that opposing arrogant hegemony is a Qur'anic principle and a fundamental norm underlying the divine messages. The Holy Qur'an presents a comprehensive set of approaches for confronting the forces of domination, most notably adherence to Tawḥīd (Divine Unity), strengthening awareness and insight, fostering unity among believers, relying on indigenous capabilities, and resisting oppression and domination. The study further demonstrates that the revolutionary discourse of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei is firmly rooted in these Qur'anic foundations and provides a practical model for confronting arrogant hegemony at the intellectual, cultural, political, and social levels. This model contributes to preserving the independence of the Muslim Ummah and strengthening its capacity to confront contemporary challenges.
